BWI EPLEX Full Scale Exercise
On November 5, 2022, BWI-Thurgood Marshal Airport will conduct its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-required full-scale exercise, commonly referred to as “EPLEX”. The purpose of this exercise is to test airport emergency plans and responders in a plausible and realistic scenario.
Volunteers are needed to serve as actors portraying injured individuals involved in an aviation incident. Emergency responders will triage, treat, and transport actors to a mock hospital area on the opposite side of the exercise area. Some actors will be selected to be covered in moulage (fake blood/injury makeup) while others will have cards indicating their simulated injuries. Volunteers can indicate interest in moulage when you register; additional details will be provided upon registration.
Actors must arrive at BWI by 8:00am for an actor briefing; moulage actors will need to report around 6:00am for moulage application. Attendance at the 8:00am briefing is required to participate as it covers key safety information and the roles/responsibilities of the actors. Additional information such as reporting location and other notes will be provided in September. The exercise will begin at 9:00am and conclude around 12:00pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
