Medical – Trauma Moulage Workshop

This is an interactive workshop is designed to enhance realism in simulation scenarios while providing best practice techniques. This intensive hands-on, 16 hour course will be presented in a multifarious approach including • scenario staging and techniques • accessory moulage options • wound care, reuse and storage recommendations • time and money saving alternatives.
Participants will:
Learn to use SIM-Safe make-up and industry secrets to create common medical-trauma conditions and odors. • Create soft tissue wounds and accessory moulage utilizing Gels, Silifix & Waxes
Learn to create life-like three dimensional wounds that can be sutured, debrided and triaged for a realistic training experience.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: • EMS Educators • Police/Fire • Simulation Educators • First Responders/Hospitals/EMS • Public Health Emergency Preparedness Facilitators • Educators/Trainers An Educational Workshop and anyone desiring to learn expert moulage techniques.

This course is presented by Moulage Concepts by Bobbie Jo Mercica. Bobbie is an author of Medical Moulage: How to Make Your Simulations Come Alive. Bobbie is also the author of published articles in various Journals for EMS, Emergency Medicine and Nursing and has presented this or similar courses from coast to coast. To say the least she is an accomplished moulage make-up artist.

Anne Arundel – Annapolis CERT is pleased to host “Search and Rescue in Community Disasters” presented by Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

The Search and Rescue in Community Disasters course provides training for community members to safely conduct search and light rescue response to aid their family and neighbors in the immediate aftermath
of a natural catastrophe, technological accident, or human-caused incident. The course is intended for members of the whole community and draws on information and lessons learned from a variety of disaster incidents such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and man-made events for discussion points. The course also uses hands-on training to demonstrate best practices for effective search and light rescue, which can be used in both residential and commercial environments.

– Developing a mindset to prepare, act and survive in a disaster involving your community
– Using survival strategies to rescue and care for yourself, your family, and your pets during and in the immediate aftermath of an event
– Providing assistance in the search, light rescue, care, and safety of your neighbors

The target audience encompasses the whole community, including, but not restricted to:
Religious Organizations
Volunteer Fire Departments
Community Emergency Response Teams
Youth Organizations
American Red Cross and other Non- Governmental Organizations
Other Interested Members of the Community

“Back to Basics, Neighbors Helping Neighbors”

DATE: Saturday, 24 September and Sunday 25 September
LOCATION: Saturday, 24 September events will be held at the Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003.
Sunday, 25 September, the training will be held at the Lorton Training Site (instructions will be available during Saturday’s event).
COST: $11.54 ($10.00 plus $1.54 registration fee)
